This is a collaged ATC I made using an image of my cat Pebbles, which I had to have put down 2 years ago. She had a tumour which grew in the place where she had been given an inoculation. When I queried this, the vet explained that certain inoculations can trigger such tumours although they are not common and this was the first he had come across in 15 years. He removed the tumour but within several months a second appeared and there were almost certainly more of which we were unaware. The decision to have her put down was one of the hardest things I have had to do. Of the two cats we had at the time, she was my favourite and I was desolate at her death. I still miss her. She loved flowers so this ATC is entitled “Our lady of the flowers”. I find using her image in my artwork has helped overcome her loss.

A scarcoat is a coat that details in painting, writing, and with all manner of things pinned and stiched to it all. It shows the scars we carry, the wounds, the hurt. Sometimes it only takes a little while to make a coat like this.
Veda’s violent death has left me with an open wound that is going to take some time to heal. To gain comfort I have begun making her part of my garden beautiful. Today I will sit making a coat for her to wear so that when she arrives at the Island of the Beloved they will know she has citizenship.
Here, in the safety of this cave, we can bring things to pin onto coats that le Enchanteur has left for us. Show us a fragment of your scarcoat.
